Training Groups

Lexington Medical Center Health Directions will kick off a couch to 5k training group on March 12, 2018.   This group will target Governor’s Cup Road Race 5k.   Please check back soon for additional details and possible addition of a half marathon training group.

Fleet Feet Sports Columbia has several training groups to help runners of all abilities train for Governor's Cup Events. The Fleet Feet Training Programs are sponsored by major vendors such as Brooks, Saucony, and New Balance and have been in place for over a decade in the Columbia area. Our coaches have backgrounds in exercise science, health and nutrition, and physical therapy and are there to help everyone reach their goals. 

Fleet Feet will be kicking off a 14-week Half Marathon training program on February 13th, 2018; and an 11-week 5k training program starting March 6th, 2018. Both training groups will target Governor’s Cup Road Race events.

Strictly Running  will begin a half-marathon training group for all ages and abilities on February 4, 2018. It is a Sixteen-week training group aimed at preparing runners of all experience levels and any starting distance.  The group will meet on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, and the training will focus on the 2018 Governor’s Cup Road Race on May 19, but we will prepare you for any race you choose during the training period.   John Zemp will be your USATF certified coach.  You receive weekly training plans, 2 detailed workouts for group each week, open access to the coach via email or text, 15% off at Strictly Running during the training period, and more.
